Is the Salesman Traveling or Travelling ?
Whenever I make any sort of reference to the traveling (travelling) salesman problem (TSP), I can never remember the spelling of the adjective. I was particularly vexed when I used the word in the title of one of the sites, where I realized I was switching between the two.
So what’s the correct way ? Well, as with many things , it depends. As it turns out, traveling with one ‘l’ is generally considered proper in American English , while travelling with two ‘l’s is the preferred spelling in British English.
So I’ll leave this note here for future reference. As I generally traffic in American English, I’ll stick with one ‘l’, except when I make a mistake and use two.
